STATE OF HAWAII ADMINISTRATIVE APPEALS OFFICER Duties: Writes rules and procedures of the administrative appeals and dispute resolution program; conducts appeals conferences to settle cases that taxpayers have appealed; negotiates case resolution and provides alternate dispute resolution between the Department of Taxation and taxpayers; provides decisions on cases in writing subject to review of the Director of Taxation; develops and maintains an inventory of all cases; develops precedent manual on decisions made on appeal cases; and assists the Director in evaluating legal submissions and legislative proposals. Desired Education: J.D. from an accredited law school or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Degree in Accounting, Masters preferred. Desirable Experience: Three years of experience that demonstrated knowledge, skill, and ability in applying tax law to resolve tax issues, and which provided good working knowledge of Federal and Hawaii tax laws, rules, accounting principles, procedures, practices, techniques and their application to various tax issues.
