FULL-TIME EXEMPT POSITION

Medical Surge Capacity Coordinator (Honolulu) ($55,000 – $65,000/year)

Responsible for planning, administering and coordinating multiple, complex advance/special projects in support of the Hospital Prepared Program (HPP) funded by the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Organize and employ resources to achieve project objectives.

Organize and administer research studies to advance preparedness program objectives.

Conduct analyses and prepare reports/recommendations regarding surge capacity development, Alternate Care Sites, Fatality Management and other preparedness topics as identified by the needs of the branch.

Coordinate and monitor efforts to implement the plan and prepares progress reports, comprehensive reviews and revisions of the plan as required.

Plans and coordinates disaster response exercises and drills for HPP activities.

Evaluates results of disaster exercises in collaboration with the Senior Planner and ensures that necessary corrective actions are taken and impacted disaster response plans and programs are updated.

Completes plans and reports to meet the goals and objectives of the HPP Preparedness Cooperative Agreements and Grants.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in a biological science or public health is strongly recommended.

Clinical and/or previous hospital administration/operations experience preferred.

Strong writing, training and presentation skills required.

ESAR – VHP Project Manager ($45,000 – $50,000/year)

Responsible for coordinating the operations and activities to implement a network of State-based programs to effectively facilitate the use of volunteers in state and county emergency responses.

Develop and implement recruiting strategies to recruit volunteers for public health surge capacity.

Support and direct training of volunteers (including tracking of training).

Track volunteer background checks and credentialing.

Develop and maintain system of volunteer retention including providing support and recognition to volunteers.

Prepare progress reports and statistics related to DOH projects using surge capacity volunteers.

Research and apply ’best practices’ used by other medical surge volunteer groups throughout the country.

Further local partnerships for public health emergency response.

Participate in public, private, and community meetings on issues pertaining to volunteer programs.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree in a biological science or public health is strongly recommended.

Previous experience mobilizing and managing a volunteer network preferred.

Strong writing, training and presentation skills required.
