NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a public hearing to be held by the Department of Planning and Permitting of the City and County of Honolulu under Special Management Area Ordinance, Chapter 25, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, for the following application at the date and the time specified or soon thereafter:

APPLICATION: SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA USE PERMIT (SMA) FILE NO. 2009/SMA-37 (JS)
FILM AND DIGITAL MEDIA CENTER

OWNER: State Department of Land and Natural Resources
APPLICANT: State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism
AGENT: Group 70 International, Inc.
LOCATION: 18th Avenue Between Kilauea Avenue and Diamond Head Road – Kaimuki

REQUEST: Special Management Area Use Permit
PROPOSAL: The demolition of a one-story soundstage and four one-story office buildings, and the construction of a two-story film and digital media center and a two-story parking structure.

Maps showing the general location and boundaries of the area under consideration are on file at the Department of Planning and Permitting, Permit and Zoning Records Access, First Floor, Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building, 650 South King Street, and are available to the public for inspection during office hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. For assistance, please call the department’s Urban Design Branch at 768-8032.

Any disabled persons requiring special assistance should contact the Department of Planning and Permitting at 768-8006 for details.

All interested persons are invited to attend. Those persons desiring to testify may register prior to the public hearing at the public hearing site and are encouraged to submit one copy of their testimony in writing.

Attendance at the public hearing is not necessary to submit testimony. Written testimony which is received by the Department of Planning and Permitting at the above address prior to the public hearing will be considered in the evaluation of the request.
