NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
MAUI PLANNING COMMISSION

The Maui Planning Commission for the County of Maui hereby gives notice that it will conduct a hearing on October 28, 2008 commencing at 8:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as is practicable in the Planning Department Conference Room, 1st Floor, Kalana Pakui Building, 250 S. High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793 on the following:

SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA USE PERMIT

1. STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, AIRPORTS DIVISION requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit for the Proposed Runway Safety and Related Improvements at Kahului Airport, Phase II Project consisting of clearing of the airport’s runway safety areas of obstructions, improving the existing perimeter access road, and improving existing drainage facilities at TMK: 3-8-001: 019 (por.), Kahului, Island of

2. MAUI COMMUNITY COLLEGE requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit for the Proposed Maui Community College Temporary Nursing Portables project consisting of the construction of 3 single-story portable structures to provide nursing classrooms, laboratory and staff offices and related improvements at 310 Kaahumanu Avenue, TMK: 3-8-007: 040 (por.), Kahului, Island of Maui. 3. WILSHIRE DMK I LLC requesting a Special Management Area Use Permit for the Alalele Subdivision, a 48-lot residential subdivision and related improvements at Alahele Place, TMK: 3-9-17: 034, Kihei, Island of Maui. (SM1 2007/0006) (J. Buika)

The subject public hearings will be conducted in accordance with the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Maui County Code and the Rules of the Maui Planning Commission. Information pertaining to the subject applications may be obtained from the Maui County Planning Department, 250 S. High Street, Wailuku, Maui.

Petitions to intervene shall be in conformity with Section 12-201-20 of the Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Maui Planning Commission and shall be filed with the Commission and served upon the applicant no less than ten (10) days before the first public hearing date. Filing of all documents to the Commission is c/o the Maui Planning Department, 250 South High Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii 96793. The deadline for the filing of a timely petition to intervene is October 14, 2008.

All testimony regarding the subject applications may be filed prior to the date of the hearing by providing 15 copies of said written testimony to the Department of Planning or may be presented at the time of the hearing.
