This is a project of the Hawaii Community Development Authority (HCDA). The work consists of repairs and improvements to an existing concrete open channel and underground double box culvert drainage system in the Makai Area of the Kakaako Community Development District. The drainage system is located on the western boundary of the Kakaako Waterfront Park and the John A. Burns School of Medicine. The majority of the work will have to be done in water.

Plans and specifications on CD-ROM may be obtained from said office upon application.

Prospective bidders are encouraged to attend a pre-bid conference on September 4, 2008, at 9:00 a.m., at the HCDA Conference Room, 677 Ala Moana Boulevard, Suite 1000. The purpose of the conference is to discuss the scope of work, critical construction procedures and basis of contract award. Failure of the bidder to attend this conference and to receive information discussed, which may be pertinent to their bid, shall not entitle the bidder to seek additional payment later for any work or construction requirement desired by the HCDA, which had been outlined at the pre-bid conference.

All prospective bidders must give written notice of their intention to bid to the HCDA Executive Director, c/o Sato & Associates, Inc., 2046 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96826. Such written notice, together with a certification stating that the bidder is licensed to undertake this project pursuant to Chapter 444, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), relating to the licensing of contractors, must be faxed, hand-carried or mailed sufficiently ahead of time to be received by Sato & Associates, Inc., no later than 4:30 p.m., September 8, 2008.

Bidders’ attention is also directed to Section 103D-1002, HRS, which relate to preferences for Hawaii products. The Hawaii Products List may be examined at the office of Sato & Associates, Inc., 2046 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96826.
