MEDICAL DIRECTOR
EXEMPT NON-CIVIL SERVICE
Kapolei, Oahu
Responsible to formulate medical policy, identify, develop and evaluate indicators of quality healthcare (i.e. utilization management and clinical practices for the managed care plans, etc.) and provide consultation on medical issues and clinical practices to staff and providers, including managed care plans, as it relates to the medical assistance programs.

Qualifications: 1) Knowledge of medical principals, techniques, procedures, and best practices especially related to the aged/blind, disable and pediatric populations. 2) Familiar with Medicaid program law and regulations in particular the health coverage and payment rules. 3) Knowledge of health industry, managed care organizations, utilization review firms, or health care claims processing organizations developing and providing coverage of medical necessity policies and guides.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to problem-solve and set goals and objectives; time and project management skills; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reports and correspondence; establish and maintain effective working relations with others; able to deal with staff and the general public. Additionally, should be computer literate, particularly at a level of competency and comfort with MS Office software, Internet access, and the use of electronic mail.
Education/Experience: Graduation for a medical school recognized by the Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners. Three to five years experience as a practicing physician.
