This leadership position administers HawaiiÕs statewide program of energy development and energy management and conservation; plans, organizes, coordinates, and directs activities dealing with energy resource development and commercialization, energy management and conservation; directs the formulation of plans, strategies, and implementation actions to attain the energy program objective; and performs related duties as assigned. The State of HawaiiÕs program is complex and involves considerable technical expertise and management and leadership skills. This position as Strategic Industries Division administrator is responsible for leading HawaiiÕs energy program summarized above, as well as its environmental, ocean, physical, intellectual and technological programs. The position further involves extensive contacts and interaction with experts and personnel in Hawaii as well as other state, municipal and federal governments and bodies, the private-sector, universities and other organizations. The position is also responsible for HawaiiÕs interface with non-state energy funding sources including federal, private-sector and other entities to develop energy initiatives and projects of importance to Hawaii. The position advises the Director and Governor on energy matters; forms strategic partnerships; and represents the StateÕs energy interests at national/international forums or symposia. Applicants must have demonstrated capability to be a strategic thinker and implementor in dynamic environments; have knowledge of energy policies, markets and investments; have demonstrated ability of leadership skills to lead, develop, nurture and work within the division and department; and be able to lead HawaiiÕs energy program to the next level.
