NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, by its Chairperson, of a public hearing to be conducted by the Neighborhood Commission of the City and County of Honolulu, for the purpose of receiving public testimony on a petition to form a new neighborhood board, to be designated as the Nanakuli Maili Neighborhood Board #36.
The initiative petition was submitted in accordance with Article 4, Section 1.4.1, of the Revised Neighborhood Plan, and the signatures in support of the petition have been verified by the City Clerk of the City and County of Honolulu. The proposed petition is to create a new board with a total of nine (9) members, all to be elected at-large.
The boundary of the new board would be as follows: Beginning at the junction of the Waianae-Wahiawa District boundaries and the north boundary of the Lualualei Naval Reservation, thence south along the Wahiawa-Waianae District boundaries to Puu Kanehoa, thence south along the west boundary of the Honouliuli Forest Reserve Boundary to Palikea, thence southwest along the western boundary of the Nanakuli Forest reserve to Waimanalo Gulch, thence south along the Waimanalo Gulch to the Pacific Ocean, thence north along the coast to the southern boundary of the Waianae Wastewater Treatment Plant, thence east along this southern boundary to Puu Mailiili, thence east along Puu Mailiilii for approximately 3000 feet, thence southeast to the junction of Mailiilii Road and Lualualei Homestead Road, thence east along Lualualei Homestead Road to the Lualualei Naval reservation, thence east and north to the point of beginning along the Lualualei Naval Reservation.

Any interested person desiring to be heard or to submit information, data, views or arguments on the proposed amendment at the public hearing is requested to register at the public hearing site beginning thirty (30) minutes prior to the starting time of the public hearing, as specified above, and is encouraged to submit twelve (12) copies of their testimony or statements in writing at the same time. All speakers will be limited to a three (3) minute presentation.
Anyone unable to attend the public hearing may file a written statement addressed to: Testimony, Attention Chairperson, Neighborhood Commission, 530 South King Street, Room 406, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813. Written statements must be received by noon on Monday, January 7, 2008.
Any disabled person requiring accommodations at these hearings may call the Neighborhood Commission Office at 768-3710 for details at least 72 hours prior to the hearing.
Should the Commission accept the petition to create a new board, the remaining seats in the Waianae Neighborhood Board will total eight (8), which would violate Section 1-5.1 of the Revised Neighborhood Plan. Therefore, if the commission accepts this petition it will also consider adding one (1) at-large seat to the Waianae Neighborhood Board #24.
