Deputy Executive Director (Executive Assistant) ($71,450.00 – $75,211.00)
Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA) is seeking a Deputy Executive Director to provide support to the Executive Diretor to effectively and efficiently direct the total administration of the agency. This includes the planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, budgeting and staffing of policies established by the Board of Directors, the bylaws of the Commission and applicable Federal and State laws.
HPHA manages approximately 8,000 units of state and federal low-income family and elderly public housing units, including capital maintenance programs, administers 3,000+ Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers and operates a statewide homeless assistance program.
Candidates must be a graduate from an accredited college or university or its equivalent in work experience. Must have progressively responsible management work experience in a real estate firm, or bank, engaged in the management of residential housing operations, private housing developments; experience in the field of housing to include such activities as rental and occupancy activities; maintenance and repair of project facilities; supervision and training a plus; knowledge of budget and fiscal management related to agency operations. Background in HUD regulations; planning and administrative/public relations skills; strong development skills, leadership, organization and problem solving skills are required.
The successful candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills, be able to work with local, state, and federal officials, as well as resident organizations and housing advocacy groups.
