STATE HEALTH PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

The State of Hawaii seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as the Administrator of the State Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA) which is administratively attached to the Department of Health. This is an exempt non-civil service executive management position requiring an experienced leader with vision, effective communication skills, and demonstrated abilities to plan, direct, and manage an organization with responsibility for promoting accessibility to quality health care services at reasonable cost for the State. The Administrator also conducts studies and investigations as may be necessary as to the causes of health care costs including inflation; serves as principal staff advisor and provides technical assistance and advice to the statewide council and the subarea councils in the preparation, review, and revision of the state health services and facilities plan; and conducts the health planning activities of the State in coordination with the subarea councils, implements the state health services and facilities plan, and determine the statewide health needs of the State after consulting with the statewide council. The Director is also responsible for the overall management of the SHPDA.

Applicants must be citizens, permanent resident aliens, or nationals of the U.S. Minimum qualification requirements include: Bachelor\u2019s degree; four years responsible experience in performing administrative assignments, budget formulation, personnel management, planning, research and analysis, and community relations; and three years of experience involving development, management, execution and coordination of programs, policies and activities.
