NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DLNR), is authorized to manage and regulate public lands set apart as forest reserves as detailed in Chapter 183, Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS). Pursuant to HRS Sections 183-12 and 183-13, DLNR provides notice of public hearing for two proposed additions of government lands to forest reserves:
1. Addition of TMK parcels (1) 1-1-012:002, 015 & 035 and (1) 1-1-013:001 & 002 (approximately 3,716.12 acres) at Moanalua valley to Honolulu Watershed Forest Reserve, Honolulu District, Oahu, for the purposes of watershed protection and research, native species habitat restoration, endangered species recovery, forest recreation, education and management, and other appropriate Forestry purposes.
2. Addition of TMK parcel (1) 6-9-001:029 (approximately 0.298 acres) near Dillingham airfield to Mokuleia Forest Reserve, Mokuleia District, Oahu, for endangered species recovery and other appropriate Forestry purposes pending final execution of land transfer from the Department of Defense to the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
DLNR will hold a public hearing to discuss these proposed Forest Reserve additions at 6:00 P.M. on May 7, 2007, at the Kalanimoku Building Room 132, 1151 Punchbowl Street, Honolulu.
All interested persons are urged to attend the public hearing to present relevant information and individual opinion for the DLNR to consider. Persons unable to attend or wishing to present additional comments may mail written testimony postmarked no later than May 22, 2007 to the Forestry Program Manager, DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife, 1151 Punchbowl Street, Room 325, Honolulu, HI 96813.
