NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DLNR), is authorized to manage and regulate public lands set apart as forest reserves as detailed in Chapter 183, Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS). Pursuant to HRS Sections 183-12 and 183-13, DLNR provides notice of public hearing for two proposed additions of government lands to forest reserves:

1. Addition of TMK parcels (4) 1-5-001: 001 and 002, and (4) 1-5-003: 007, 008, 009, 010, 013, 015, 016, 017, 019, 020, 021, 022, 024, 027 and 040 (approximately 9,216 acres) to Puu Ka Pele Forest Reserve, Waimea District, Kauai, for the purposes of forestry and watershed management, public hunting, and ancillary uses.

2. Addition of TMK (4) 1-2-002: portion 1 (approximately 142 acres) to the newly designated Mana Plains Forest Reserve, Waimea District, Kauai, for coastal plant habitat and Wildlife Sanctuary purposes, and ancillary uses.

DLNR will hold a public hearing to discuss these proposed Forest Reserve additions at 6:00 P.M. on March 19, 2007, at the Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Cafeteria, 4431 Nuhou St., Lihue (Puhi).

All interested persons are urged to attend the public hearing to present relevant information and individual opinion for the DLNR to consider. Persons unable to attend or wishing to present additional comments, may mail written testimony postmarked no later than April 2, 2007 to the Forestry Program Manager, DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife, 1151 Punchbowl St. #325, Honolulu, HI 96813.
