Pursuant to chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Director of Taxation of the State of Hawaii will hold a public hearing at the above-referenced time and place to allow the public to comment on the proposed adoption of the following administrative rules.
Section 237-8.6, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), provides that the county surcharge on state tax shall be levied, assessed, and collected on all gross proceeds and gross income taxable under chapter 237. Section 237-8.6, HRS, also requires the Director of the Department of Taxation to implement rules specifying which transactions are subject to the surcharge. Special accommodations (i.e., sign language interpreter, large print, or taped materials) can be requested by contacting the Directors Office three weeks in advance of the public hearing.
