Certificate of Need

The Agency has received the following certificate of need applications for standard review:

#05-25 from Malulani Health and Medical Center, LLC, for the establishment of Malulani Health and Medical Center (150 acute care beds and ancillary services) to be located at TMK: (2) 2-2-24: por. 16, Kihei, Hawaii, at a capital cost of $119,313,397;

#06-16 from Maui Memorial Medical Center for the establishment of Interventional Cardiac Catheterization and Heart Surgery services located at 221 Mahalani Street, Wailuku, Hawaii, at a capital cost of $1,500,000.

Application reviews are scheduled as follows:
July 7, 2006, Tri-Isle Subarea Health Planning Council, 9 a.m., H.P. Baldwin High School, Room 14-Lecture Hall, Multi-Purpose Building, 1650 Kaahumanu Avenue, Wailuku, Hawaii;
July 20, 2006, Certificate of Need Review Panel, 9:00 a.m., 235 South Beretania Street (State Office Tower/ Leiopapa A Kamehameha), Honolulu, Hawaii, Room 204; and
July 27, 2006, Statewide Health Coordinating Council, 9:00 a.m., 235 South Beretania Street (State Office Tower/Leiopapa A Kamehameha), Honolulu, Hawaii, Room 204.

Certificate applications are reviewed according to the following criteria: relation to the state health services and facilities plan, need and accessibility, quality, cost and finances, relation to the existing health care system, and availability of resources.
