SALARY COMMISSION
CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
THE PUBLIC IS INVITED to comment before the Salary Commission on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at 3:30 P.M. in the Council Committee Room, Second Floor, Honolulu Hale, regarding the salaries and the salary schedules of elected and appointed officials of the City and County of Honolulu. Public comment is invited on proposals to:
Increase the salary of the Mayor, Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, Department Directors (excluding Police and Fire), Prosecuting Attorney, Deputy Department Directors (excluding Police and Fire), Council Chair, Councilmembers, Chiefs of the Fire and Police Departments, Deputy Chiefs of the Fire and Police Department by three to five percent. And to revise the salary schedule for Deputies of the Prosecuting Attorney and the Corporation Counsel to consolidate the existing salary ranges and increase the salary schedule by three to five percent.
By section 3-122 of the Revised Charter of the City and County of Honolulu, the Salary Commission is charged with the responsibility of annually establishing the salaries and salary schedules for elected and appointed officials. The Commission establishes these salaries in accordance with the principles of adequate compensation for work performed, and preservation of a sensible relationship with the salaries of other city employees.
A public hearing has been scheduled to accommodate members of the public who wish to address the Salary Commission. Anyone wishing to speak at the public hearing may register as a speaker by calling 523-4518. Speakers are limited to 3 minutes for their oral testimony.
