Investigator IV
The Insurance Division, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, State of Hawaii, is seeking a qualified individual for a full time, permanent, exempt position to conduct investigations of, and respond to complaints involving motor vehicle insurance fraud. The investigators duties include initial case assessment, development and execution of an investigative plan, gathering and preserving evidence, investigative report writing, and testifying in criminal proceedings.
Experience: Minimum two and one-half years criminal investigative experience to include writing clear and comprehensive reports, reading and interpreting complex written material, interpreting and applying statutes and rules, performing research, dealing with the public, and assisting with criminal prosecution. Experience in the insurance field preferred.
Recommended skills: Ability to develop and execute criminal investigative plan that includes case assessment, interviewing witnesses, and gathering and preserving evidence, interpret and analyze financial information, communicate clearly, interpret laws, rules, and gather and analyze facts. Knowledge of rules of evidence, principles concerning search and seizure, report writing, interviewing methods and techniques and familiarity of computers, including hardware and software.
Minimum education and training: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Excess experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
