NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

Fiscal Year 2006-2007
Repair and Maintenance Projects
for Public Schools Statewide
(Oahu, Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, & Kauai)

The Department of Education (DOE) shall compile a list of licensed contractors interested in Informal and/or Emergency REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE (R&M) CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS at public schools Statewide.  All interested licensed contractors are invited to submit a Qualification Application on or before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 19, 2006 to the various district offices indicated on the last page of the application.  Contractors interested in work on different islands shall submit application forms to the respective island offices.  Contractors that submit completed applications after this deadline will be added on a quarterly basis provided they have attended a mandatory meeting.  All contractors on the current list must also reapply.

R&M construction projects include trades such as plumbing, electrical, termite treatment, painting, sitework, HVAC, and various other building repairs.  These R&M projects shall be solicited on an informal and/or emergency basis; each project shall amount to not more than $100,000.00.  Emergency repair involves immediate repair and/or abatement work to be done 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.  Therefore, Contractor must be available and accessible on a 24-hour basis.  In accordance with Chapter 104, Hawaii Revised Statutes, contractors must pay the current prevailing wage-rate for public construction work when performing the requested work.

Mandatory informational meetings will be held in accordance with the following schedule and prior to the application deadline.  Interested contractors are hereby advised that attendance at one of the meetings is a pre-requisite for consideration for informal and/or emergency projects.  Contractors are advised that seats are limited for each meeting; contractors must contact the respective contact person to register for the meeting.
