NOTICE OF REPEAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE RULE
The University of Hawaii, pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes Chapter 91, subsection 91-3(f), hereby gives thirty days’ public notice that it intends to repeal Title 20, Chapter 24 of the Hawaii Administrative Rules entitled “University-Owned Faculty Housing Units” (for convenience referred to as “Chapter 20-24”). The proposed effective date of the repeal shall be July 17, 2017, or as soon thereafter as certified copies of the repeal have been filed with the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.
Chapter 20-24 provides guidelines for the rental and sale of University-owned faculty housing units to other University employees (i.e., non-faculty), as well as to non-University employees and organizations and the general public. This chapter is not required by law and is unnecessary given that the University has policies governing faculty housing, e.g., RP 9.209 and EP 9.230, both entitled “University Housing Assistance Program”, which are available at

Moreover, the University administration does not anticipate a need to rent or sell such units to other University employees (i.e., non-faculty), or non-University employees, organizations or the general public. Chapter 20-24, therefore, is not necessary for the administration of the faculty housing program and will be repealed in its entirety.

Any interested person may petition the University Board of Regents regarding the proposed repeal of Chapter 20-24, by submitting a written petition to the Board pursuant to Section 91-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, at 2444 Dole Street, Bachman 209, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822, no later than June 30, 2017.
