The Hawai`i Civil Rights Commission administers the state’s discrimination laws and receives, investigates, litigates, and adjudicates complaints of discrimination. This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Labor & Industrial Relations, Civil Rights Commission. The position is located in downtown Oahu.
GENERAL DUTIES: The Chief Counsel serves as the attorney for the Commissioners, advising them on procedural and adjudication matters, rulemaking, legislation, and other matters. Represents the Commission before the legislature, in cases before the state circuit and appellate courts, and in federal courts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Law degree from an ABA accredited law school; five years experience in the practice of law; trial and appellate experience; licensed to practice law in the State of Hawai’i.
PREFERRED CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE: legal experience in employment, housing or public accommodations discrimination law.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
