APPLICATION OF HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC. FOR APPROVAL TO COMMIT FUNDS IN EXCESS OF $2,500,000 (EXCLUDING CUSTOMER CONTRIBUTIONS)
FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF ITEM P0001576,
SCHOFIELD GENERATING STATION PROJECT

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“HECO”), filed on May 16, 2014, for Commission approval to commit funds in excess of $2,500,000 (excluding customer contributions) for the purchase and installation of Item P0001576, Schofield Generating Station Project (the “Project”) at Schofield Barracks (“Application”). The public hearing will be held as follows:

*Note: The public hearing will coincide with the public hearing for In re Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc., Docket No. 2014-0146, involving HECO’s application, filed on June 20, 2014, seeking the Commission’s approval to construct an overhead 46 kilovolt (“kV”) sub-transmission line for Waihonu South overhead extension.

The Project involves a new overhead 46 kV sub-transmission line to connect the generating station to the grid, reconductoring of a section of an existing 46 kV line extension, and supporting grid infrastructure upgrades. The total estimated cost of the Project is approximately $170,000,000.
Copies of HECO’s Application are available for public review through the Commission’s electronic Document Management System, accessible at http://dms.puc.hawaii.gov/dms/. In addition, copies of HECO’s Application are also available for review by contacting HECO ((808)548-7311), the Commission’s Honolulu Office ((808)586-2020), or the Division of Consumer Advocacy ((808)586-2800).
All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HECO’s Application. Statements may also be mailed to the Public Utilities Commission, 465 South King Street, Room No. 103, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, or
e-mailed to Hawaii.PUC@hawali.gov. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2014- 0113. Special accommodations for persons with disabilities can be made if requested reasonably in advance by contacting the Commission’s Honolulu Office.
