NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
APPLICATION OF HAWAII ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY, INC.
FOR APPROVAL TO RELOCATE AN OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINE

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc. (“HELCO”), filed on August 20, 2014, for Commission approval to relocate a section of an overhead 69 kilovolt (“kV”) transmission line (the “Project”) located along Mamalahoa Highway near Puuanahulu between Waikoloa and Kailua-Kona for Item H0002985. The public hearing will be held as follows:

*Note: The public hearing will coincide with the public hearing for In re Kona Water Service Company, Inc. (“KWSC”), Docket No. 2013-0375, involving KWSC’s application, filed on August 29, 2014, seeking the Commission’s approval of rate increases and revision of its tariff.
The Project involves the construction of a section of 69 kV overhead line in order to relocate a section of the existing 6800 69 kV overhead transmission line located along Mamalahoa Highway near Puuanahulu, between Waikoloa and Kailua-Kona, at the request of Big Island Country Club Estates Development. The overhead relocation work consists of the installation of: (1) seven new 75-foot wood poles (P-186, P-187, P-187X, P-188, P-188X, P-189, P-190), (2) two anchors, and (3) approximately 2,175 circuit feet of 477 KCM ACSS/AW/TW 69 kV overhead conductors and #3/0 AAAC shield wire for the 69 kV transmission pole line relocation. In addition, the project installs: (1) one new 45-foot pole (P-189X), (2) one new 40-foot pole (P-Xl), and (3) approximately 100 circuit feet of #1/0 AAC 12 kV, and #1/0 AAC neutral overhead conductors. Existing underbuilt 12 kV conductors will be transferred along the transmission pole line. In addition, the following existing transmission facilities will be removed; (1) two 75-foot poles, (2) five 65-foot poles, (3) one 45-foot pole, (4) one anchor, and (5) approximately 2,175 circuit feet of #2/0 ACSR 69 kV, 101.8 ACSR shield wire overhead conductors. The total estimated cost of the Project is approximately $218,000.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HELCO’s Application.
