APPLICATION OF HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC.
FOR APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT A 46 kV OVERHEAD SUB-TRANSMISSION
LINE PURSUANT TO HRS SECTION 269-27.6(a) FOR ITEM P0003256 –
MAKAKILO C&D PH.2 – 46 kV OH RELOCATION

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“HECO”), filed on February 12, 2014, for Commission approval to construct a 46 kilovolt (“kV”) overhead sub-transmission line and relocate a section of an existing 46 kV overhead sub-transmission line in the D.R. Horton’s (“DRH”) Makakilo C&D Ph.2 residential development (the “Project”). The public hearing will be held as follows:

The Project involves the relocation of the existing 46 kV, 12 kV, and neutral overhead lines running through the southeast corner of the Makakilo C&D Ph.2 property to the southeast property line. The overhead relocation work consists of the installation of: (1) two new 70 foot fiberglass poles, (2) one new 75 foot steel pole, (3) eight 1-1/4 inch x 10 foot anchors, and (4) approximately 450 circuit feet of 336.4 KCM AAC 46 kV, 336.4 KCM AAC 12 kV, and 3/0 AAAC neutral overhead conductors. In addition: (1) one 70 foot wood pole, (2) one 75 foot wood pole, (3) one 1-1/4 inch x 10 foot anchor, and (4) approximately 230 circuit feet of 3/0 AAC 46 kV, 336.4 KCM AAC 12 kV, 3/0 AAAC neutral, and 3/8″ EHS shield wire overhead conductors will be removed. The Project was initiated at the request of DRH in order to accommodate their Makakilo C&D Ph.2 residential development. The total estimated capital cost of the Project is approximately $401,400. Pursuant to the Grant of Easement R/W 68- 7B with the Trustees Under the Will and of the Estate of James Campbell, the overhead-to-overhead relocation of HECO’s 46kV, 12kV, and neutral lines will be at HECO’s expense.
Copies of HECO’s Application are available for public review through the Commission’s electronic Document Management System, accessible at http://dms.puc.hawaii.gov/dms/. In addition, copies of HECO’s Application are also available for review by contacting HECO (548-7311), the Commission’s Honolulu Office (586-2020), or the Division of Consumer Advocacy (586-2800).
All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HECO’s Application.
