HOUSING DIRECTOR, COUNTY OF KAUA‘I

The County of Kaua‘i seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as its Housing Director. This is an appointed, non-civil service executive management position requiring an experienced leader with vision to administer, direct, and oversee the operation of the County’s housing and community development programs. The position is responsible for creating, planning, negotiating, and implementing innovative projects and programs that increase and improve affordable housing options to eligible persons and families on the island of Kaua‘i. We seek an individual with a commitment to that vision.

This position requires a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to the following: (1) bachelor’s degree in business administration or public administration, economics or a related field, (2) five years of progressively responsible management work experience demonstrating a working knowledge of housing or property management, and (3) three years of experience in a supervisory or coordinative capacity. Experience in development or construction is preferred. Applicants must be citizens, permanent resident aliens, nationals of the U.S., or non-citizens with unrestricted employment authorization from the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Salary: $90,000 plus valuable benefits that may include health and life insurance plans, retirement plan, vacation leave and sick leave.
