NOTICE OF ADDITION OF A CONDITION (NO HUNTING WITH DOGS)
IN A PORTION OF HUNTING UNIT B
ISLAND OF MAUI

Pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123 (13-123-4b), the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW), announces the addition of a condition to hunting in a portion of Hunting Unit B on the island of Maui. Specifically, hunting with dogs will not be allowed in the portion of Hunting Unit B located above fencing constructed between the 2700 and 3600 elevation. This condition is to prevent injuries to dogs as staff and public initiate additional animal control measures. The area will remain open to hunting without dogs.
This designated area is an important part of the East Maui watershed, which provides over 60 billion gallons of water each year to the areas residents and businesses. The designated area is also identified under DOFAWs draft management guidelines as highest quality native vegetation and the purpose of game management as game control for resource protection. Control measures are in accordance with DOFAW technical report no.07-01 and will prevent ongoing damage to the native forest which comprises the watershed.
