SPECIAL MUZZLE-LOADER ONLY GOAT HUNTING SEASON PLANNED FOR KAUAI

The Board of Land and Natural Resources is pleased to announce a special muzzle-loader only hunting season for feral goats in Hunting Units B, E, and H on the island of Kauai. Pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123 (13-123-4 and 5.1) “Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting,” the following fees and special rules and conditions will be in effect for the hunt:

Muzzle- $5.00 $25.00 Unit B, E and H One weekend Two (2) Conventional
Loader Only only: May 26-27, goat per hunter firearms
Season 2007 hunter not permitted

Other Conditions and Restrictions:

€ Kauai residents may purchase their permits at the Lihue DOFAW office at 3060 Eiwa St., Rm 306 Lihue. Another person may purchase your permit but must present your hunting license. Neighbor-Island may pick up applications from their respective island DOFAW office. Applications must be Postmarked by May 18, 2007
€ HUNTING UNIT A WILL BE CLOSED DURING THE MUZZLE-LOADER ONLY SEASON
€ Feral Pig will be open to hunting (one pig per hunter per day).
€ Hunters will be required to sign-in and sign-out at either Kokee, Polihale, Kikiaola Harbor, Hanalei pier or Waimea Canyon hunters checking Stations
€ A successful hunter who has taken a goat must immediately tag their animal upon taking it. Boning will be permitted, but the unskinned tail must be left attached to the carcass.
€ Overnight camping will be permitted in designated camping areas only. Camping permits for Waimea Canyon are available in the Lihue Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 274-3433. Camping permits for Polihale Beach State Park available at the Kauai State Parks Office at 274-3444.
€ All other Chapter 123 rules (Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting) shall apply to the special hunt including authorized muzzle-loading riffle, hunting hours, blaze-orange garment and safety zones.
