Laboratory Manager
Primary duties: position will be overseeing the collection, processing, analysis, data recording, preparation of reports and data distribution of results from offshore water, incoming seawater, disposed seawater, groundwater, and anchialine pond water as required to meet the objectives of NELHAs Comprehensive Environmental Monitoring Program (CEMP) and to comply with the water quality standards of the State Department of Health, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other agencies. Responsible for directing laboratory activities in the specialized fields of analytical chemistry and bacteriology including maintaining effective relationships with staff, administration, tenants, and others regarding services requested and rendered; supervising a technical staff of 3; and managing laboratory operations such as: setting priorities of assignments, maintaining inventory, and updating equipment and procedures as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited university with a major in marine science, microbiology, bacteriology, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field. Applicants must have at least four years of progressive work experience in an environmental laboratory with a minimum of one year of that experience analyzing seawater samples, and a minimum of two years of supervisory experience. Masters Degree preferred.
Desirable Qualifications: Ph.D. from an accredited university.
This position is exempt from State Civil Service requirements. Monthly Salary of $4,917.00.
