NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU

The City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Services will hold a public hearing to receive testimony on the proposed PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND POLICIES PERTAINING TO SERVICES OF THEBUS TO MEET REPORTING CRITERIA MANDATED BY THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION PER TITLE VI, CIVIL RIGHTS ACT, 1964 AND RELATED STATUTES AND REGULATIONS.

This proposed Performance Standards and Policies is new and does not replace previous versions.

The proposed Performance Standards and Policies establish quantitative measures of service that can be used to detect discrimination between minority and non-minority service areas.

The proposed Performance Standards and Policies covers the following: transit service information, activities prohibited in the provision of transit services, and operational elements of the transit service.

A public hearing will be held in accordance with the following schedule:

All interested persons are invited to express their views on this matter. Persons wishing to speak at the public hearing must sign up on the day of the hearing and presentations will be limited to three minutes. Also, two written copies of the statement presented will be required for the record.

Written testimony will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007, at the above address. Any person requiring a special accommodation (i.e., large print materials, sign language interpreter) is asked to call the Department of Transportation Services by Friday, January 5, 2007, by calling Michael Murphy at 768-8373.
