Certificate of Need

The Agency has received a completed application under Part V and Part VII of Chapter 323D, Hawaii Revised Statutes, from Hawaii Medical Center, LLC for the acquisition of St. Francis Medical Centers Liliha/West; acquisition of St. Francis’ interests in joint ventures providing Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), outpatient cardiac catheterization and outpatient endoscopy services at St. Francis Medical Center Liliha at a capital cost of $34,721,855. Parties to the agreement: St. Francis Healthcare System of Hawaii, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis Medical Center – West and Hawaii Medical Center, LLC.

Application reviews are scheduled as follows:
September 15, 2006, Oahuwide Certificate of Need Review Committee, 1 pm, 235 South Beretania Street (State Office Tower/Leiopapa A Kamehameha), Room 405, Honolulu, Hawaii;
September 21, 2006, Certificate of Need Review Panel, 9:00 am, 235 South Beretania Street (State Office Tower/Leiopapa A Kamehameha), Room 204, Honolulu, Hawaii; and
September 28, 2006, Statewide Health Coordinating Council, 9:00 am, 235 South Beretania Street (State Office Tower/Leiopapa A Kamehameha), Room 204, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Certificate applications are reviewed according to the following criteria: relation to the state health services and facilities plan, need and accessibility, quality, cost and finances, relation to the existing health care system, and availability of resources.
