NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to Chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS), notice is hereby given that the State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Highways Division, will hold public hearings on the proposed establishment of Title 19, Subtitle 4, Chapter 108 of the Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR), entitled “High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes.” Title 19, Subtitle 4, Chapter 108, HAR, is being established to designate high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes; to authorize the Director of Transportation to designate demonstration sections of highways as HOV lanes; and to permit certain vehicle exceptions.

Lanes on the following highways are being proposed as HOV lanes:
€ Interstate Route H-1, Manager’s Drive to Keehi Interchange,
€ Interstate Route H-2, Waiawa Interchange to Mililani Interchange,
€ Route H201, Moanalua Freeway, Halawa Interchange to Puuloa Road,
€ Route 72, Kalanianaole Highway, West of Halemaumau Street to Ainakoa Avenue,
€ Route 92, Nimitz Highway, Keehi Interchange to Pacific Street

The public hearings will be held on July 12, 2006 at 9:00 am by Video Conference at the following Department of Transportation Highways Division District Offices:

All interested persons are urged to attend the hearings and present relevant information and individual opinions in the time limit provided. Persons unable to attend or with additional comments may mail written testimony by July 17, 2006 to:
