NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING

REQUEST OF YOUNG BROTHERS, LIMITED, TO DISCONTINUE ITS LESS THAN CONTAINER LOAD SERVICE FOR THE TRANSPORTATION OF CARGO TO AND FROM KAHULUI HARBOR (MAUI)

DOCKET NO. 2006-0120

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the STATE OF HAWAII, PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (\u201DCommission\u201D), will hold a public meeting relating to the Transmittal of YOUNG BROTHERS, LIMITED (\u201DYB\u201D), filed on April 13, 2006, for approval to discontinue its less than container load service for the transportation of cargo to and from Kahului Harbor, island of Maui.

YB is a water carrier authorized to transport property by barge between the islands of Oahu, Hawaii, Kauai, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai. YB\u2019s intrastate water carrier operations are subject to the Commission\u2019s regulation. YB currently consolidates and deconsolidates cargo at its ports of call for shippers that do not place their cargo in containers.

YB proposes to discontinue its less than container load service for the transportation of cargo to and from Kahului Harbor in order to address the critical shortage of available harbor space at that port of call. YB explains that its proposal, if approved by the Commission: (1) will mean that the consolidation and deconsolidation of less than container load cargo bound for or leaving Kahului Harbor will have to occur at off-harbor sites located away from Kahului Harbor; and (2) motor carriers of property are or will be available as consolidators/freight forwarders. YB seeks to implement its proposal effective from January 1, 2007.

The Commission will hold a public meeting on the island of Oahu as follows:
