N O T I C E

Notice is hereby given that the State Department of Transportation, Highways Division, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration, will hold a public informational meeting for the proposed Kawaihae Road Bypass, from Waimea to Kawaihae, on island of Hawaii. The meeting will be held in the Mauka Ballroom of the Hapuna Beach Hotel, on May 10, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.

The project, which primarily involves the realigning of Kawaihae Road, extends from the Kawaihae Harbor to Mamalahoa Highway, distance of approximately 14 miles. Connectors from the proposed highway to the Queen Kaahumanu Highway and the existing Kawaihae Road are also being considered.

The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the State’s planning efforts thus far and to solicit comments and recommendations regarding these studies and the direction of this project.

If you have any concerns or are interested in this project, we urge your attendance. If you require any special accommodations or assistance (translator, wheelchair and etc.), please contact the State Department of Transportation, Highways Division, Planning Branch at (808) 587-1830, at least five (5) days prior to the meeting.
