Application for Significant Modification No. 0249-08
Maui Pineapple Company, Ltd.
500 HP Boiler
Located at: 120 Kane Street, Kahului, Maui

The DRAFT PERMITS are described as follows:

The terminal has a bottom loading load rack with vapor combustion system for additional VOC control. The load rack is subject to 40 CFR, Part 60, Subpart XX, Standards of Performance for Bulk Gasoline Terminals. The Prevention of Significant Deterioration permit (PSD) will no longer apply to this facility; however, New Source Performance Standard (NSPS), Subpart Dc – Standards of Performance for Industrial- Commercial-Institutional Steam Generating Units, will apply to the new boiler. The net increase/decrease in emissions is shown below and is below significant levels:

Previous Actual Emissions (tpy) New
Potential Significant
2 Yr Emissions Net 1 (+/-) Increase
Pollutant 2003 2004 Average (tpy) (tpy) (tpy)

SO2 41.82 31.70 36.76 28.30 -8.46 40
NOx 142.97 76.20 109.59 12.54 -97.05 40

VOC 7.16 3.70 5.43 0.68 -4.75 40

Note: 1Net is the difference of the new potential minus the previous 2-yr average.
Example Calc: 12.54 tpy – 109.59 tpy = -97.05 tpy NOx

The draft permit, if approved, will supersede the current operating permit in its entirety.
