Honolulu Police Department
The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is scheduled for an on-site assessment by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The national accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
As part of the on-site assessment, the public is invited to phone in comments by calling 479-6307 on Monday, May 1, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The public may also attend a public comment session on May 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the HPD\u2019s Command Conference Room at Alapai headquarters, 801 South Beretania Street. Persons wanting to submit written comments may write to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax, Virginia, 22030-2215.
Telephone comments and appearances at the public comment session will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the HPD\u2019s ability to comply with CALEA\u2019s standards of accreditation. A copy of the standards is available at Alapai headquarters, 801 South Beretania Street, Monday through Friday from 7:45 to 4:30 p.m.
