FULL-TIME EXEMPT POSITIONS
BT MICROBIOLOGIST (Oahu)
Conducts assays to isolate, detect and confirm bacteria, bacterial toxins, rickettsiae and viral agents; performs microbial and molecular assays on human specimens, clinical isolates, environmental and food samples using different platforms; performs molecular typing of food-borne pathogens; and performs sequence analyses using ABI 3100 Sequence Analyzer.
Req: College or university degree and 2 yrs microbiology experience in a clinical laboratory or a minimum of two years specific experience in food analyses employing PFGE. Current experience in bionumerics, molecular identification assays such as PCR, Real-Time PCR, and Reverse Tracriptase PCR and at least two years experience in handing Biosafety-Level 2/3 microorganisms is preferred. A Hawaii State license for Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Specialist in Microbiology is required.

BT PLANNER (Kauai)
Plans/coordinates preparation for and response to bioterrorism, disease epidemics and other public health emergencies. Assists in development of local and statewide comprehensive public health response plans to acts of biological terrorism.
Req: College or university degree in public health or related field and 3 yrs. experience in planning of public health, disease intervention or related programs, supervision of health professionals; knowledge and understanding of community resources; demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills; computer skills. Masters degree in public health or related field desirable. Drivers license and access to daily transportation required.
