The State of Hawaii, Department of Health, Disability and Communication Access Board will hold a public hearing to receive testimony on the proposed amendments to chapter 11-219, Hawaii Administrative Rules (HAR), entitled Parking for Persons with Disabilities.
The proposed amendments include changing the parking placard fee provisions. For example, the issuance fee will be increased from $10.00 to $12.00 for each temporary placard and each replacement of a lost, stolen or mutilated disabled persons parking placard. In addition, the proposed amendments include adding an issuance fee for the replacement of a confiscated parking placard. For example, the issuance fee will be $12.00 for the replacement of a confiscated parking placard. Also, the proposed amendments include a requirement to notify permittees to renew their eligibility to use special license plates before the expiration date of their special license plates and include a specification for placement of the No Parking – Access Aisle sign for van accessible parking spaces. The proposed amendments may also include housekeeping amendments to the rules and amendments, deletions, or additions suggested by oral or written testimony.

Written testimony will be accepted until March 16, 2006, at the above address. Any person requiring a special accommodation (i.e., large print materials, sign language interpreter) is asked to call the Disability and Communication Access Board at least two weeks before the hearing.
