NOTICE TO BIDDERS
BID FORMS for IFB No. 08-054, with plans, INSTITUTE FOR ASTRONOMY, REROOF AND GENERAL REPAIRS FOR THE ZODIACAL LIGHT BUILDING, will be available from and received in the OFFICE OF PROCUREMENT AND REAL PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (OPRPM), UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII, 1400 LOWER CAMPUS ROAD, ROOM 15, HONOLULU, HAWAII 96822.
Written notice of intention to bid is due in OPRPM by 4:30 p.m., January 28, 2008. Intention to bid via FAX (808) 956-2093 is acceptable.
Due to environmental conditions at Mount Haleakala, Maui, that may not be clearly identified in the technical specifications and plans, it is highly recommended that all bidders attend a pre-bid conference/job site walk-through at 9:30 a.m., January 10, 2008, at the MEES Observatory Buildings Day Room at Haleakala High Altitude Observatories. Bidders may pick-up a 1-day Haleakala National Park entry pass from the University of Hawaii Institute for Astronomy office located at 34 Ohia Ku (located in the new Kula Malu subdivision), Pukalani, Maui at 7:30 a.m. on the morning of the pre-bid meeting. Bidders shall park in the MEES Observatory paved parking lot or adjacent paved parking areas. Parking is not allowed on any unpaved areas or along side of the paved roadway.
Requests for Substitution/Clarification must be submitted to the Technical Representative, Loren Lau, no later than 4:00 p.m., January 17, 2008.
Bids will be opened at 2:30 p.m., February 7, 2008. Bids received after the due time and date(s) fixed above will not be considered.
The project shall generally consist of removal of finishes and coatings on existing exterior wall and roof, and installation of new finishes and coating systems on existing exterior wall and roof. Work also includes tapered roof insulation, repainting, hazardous material abatement, third-party Qualified Consultant sampling and testing, and Cultural Specialist hired by the General Contractor to monitor the construction process to advise the University on any cultural or spiritual correction, complete.
To be eligible to bid, bidders must possess a valid State of Hawaii contractor\u2019s license B. BIDS FROM CONTRACTORS NOT LICENSED IN THE STATE OF HAWAII WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
