$90,288 – 95,472 per year plus benefits

In keeping with Governor Linda Lingle’s pledge to attract and select the best available candidates for public service, the Department of Land and Natural Resources is pleased to announce an opening for its First Deputy Director exempt position.

Desired Qualifications: Seeking a highly motivated energetic self-starter, with good communication and leadership skills. Be able to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment involving the public and organizations and articulate a strong vision and commitment to improving Hawaii. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to foster teamwork and professionalism to further the Administration and Departmental missions.
Summary of Duties: This position serves as First Deputy to the Chairperson (Director). Duties include assisting/advising the Chairperson, deputy directors, administrators and staff to develop/implement policies and procedures; represent the Chairperson in meetings, hearings or conferences; develop/maintain effective working relationships with legislative, governmental, and community organizations. Respond to diverse perspectives from communities, user groups, interest groups and the general public in the efficient use of public lands and water resources. Recruitment is open to United States citizens who have been legal residents of the State of Hawaii for at least one year immediately preceding their appointment. Office is in Honolulu.
