NEIGHBORHOOD COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, by its chairperson, of public hearings to be conducted by the Neighborhood Commission of the City and County of Honolulu, pursuant to Section 91-3 and 92-41, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Sections 4-105.4, 13-106 and 14-104, of the Revised Charter of the City and County of Honolulu 1973 (2000 Edition), as amended, for the purpose of considering changes to board names, sub-district boundaries and representation configuration (seats) for the following neighborhood boards: No. 8, 23, and 26.

The dates of the public hearings are:

1) MCCULLY-MOILIILI NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 8, THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2007, 7:30 P.M., KING WILLIAM LUNALILO SCHOOL CAFETERIA, 810 PUMEHANA STREET, HONOLULU, HAWAII;
2) EWA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 23, THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2007, 7:00 P.M., ASING PARK RECREATION BUILDING, 91-1450 RENTON ROAD, EWA, HAWAII;
3) WAHIAWA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 26, MONDAY, APRIL 16, 2007, 7:00 P.M., WAHIAWA RECREATION CENTER, 1139 KILANI AVENUE, WAHIAWA, HAWAII;

The purpose of these hearings is to receive public testimony on proposals, as stipulated below.

MCCULLY-MOILIILI NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 8
PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE INITIATIVE PETITION AS FOLLOWS:
The existing Petition provides for three sub-districts with a total membership of seventeen (17) representatives.
The amendment proposed by Board vote redefines the sub-district boundaries (realigning three sub-districts based on mauka-to-makai division) and reduces the total Board seats from seventeen to fifteen seats. The Board requests the new 15-seat representation scheme be 5-seats for each of the three realigned sub-districts.

EWA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 23
PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE INITIATIVE PETITION AS FOLLOWS:
The existing Petition provides for two sub-districts, with a total membership o
eleven (11) representatives.

The amendment proposed by Board vote provides for at-large representation, retaining the total number of seats at eleven (11) representatives.

WAHIAWA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO. 26
PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE INITIATIVE PETITION AS FOLLOWS:
The amendment proposed by Board vote is to change the Board name to Wahiawa-Whitmore Village Neighborhood Board No. 26.

Copies of the foregoing proposed amendments will be mailed at no cost to any interested person who requests a copy by calling 527-5749 or may be obtained and reviewed by the public at the Neighborhood Commission Office, Honolulu Hale Room 400, 530 South King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on regular business days through May 3, 2007.
Any interested person desiring to be heard on or to submit information, data, views or argument on the proposed amendments at the public hearings is requested to register at the public hearing site beginning thirty (30) minutes prior to the starting time of the public hearing, as specified above, and is encouraged to submit twelve (12) copies of their testimony or statements in writing at the same time. All speakers will be limited to a three (3) minute presentation.
Anyone unable to attend the public hearing may file a written statement addressed to Testimony, Attention Chairperson, Neighborhood Commission, at the address indicated above. Written statements must be received by noon on May 21, 2007.
Any disabled person requiring accommodation at this hearing may call the Neighborhood Commission Office at 527-5749 for details at least 72 hours prior to the hearing.
