NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS

SEALED BIDS will be received up to and publicly opened and read aloud at 2:30 p.m. on September 12, 2006, in the office of the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead Community Association (NHHCA) located at 1188 Bishop Street, Suite 909, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813 for:

NANAKULI COMMUNITY CENTER
Security Gates and Fencing

Property located at the old “Camp Andrews” site on Farrington Highway, Waianae, Hawaii, on the town side next to the new Nanaikapono Elementary School.

Plans and specifications will be available on September 1, 2006 and will be issued upon the payment of $25 for three (3) sets of Bidding Documents, payable to the Nanakuli Hawaiian Homestead Community Association. The deposit will be completely refunded if documents are returned in good condition within five (5) days following receipt of Bids.

This project will be funded under Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-383). Contractor will be required to comply with all applicable current State and Federal labor standards requirements in effect at the time the Contract is executed. Both the State and Federal wage rates are applicable to the project.

To be eligible to bid, the prospective bidder must provide written notice of bidder’s intention to bid. Bidders shall be licensed in accordance with Chapter 444, HRS, relating to the licensing of Contractor. The Owner’s Representative must receive such written notice by 4:30 p.m. on September 6, 2006 via facsimile at (808) 531-5315.

NHHCA may reject any and all bids and may waive any bid defects whenever NHHCA deems such action is in the best interest of the NHHCA. The determination of the lowest responsible bidder will be made by the NHHCA.

A pre-bid conference and site inspection will be held on September 6, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the site. This will be the only opportunity to visit the site during the bid period; therefore attendance at this meeting is encouraged.

All bids shall be accompanied by a bid security of the amount not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount.

Bidders attention is directed to Act 352, SLH 1997, relating to the requirements for tax clearances from the State Department of Taxation and the Internal Revenue Service, as a prerequisite to entering into a contract and final payment of contract.
