IMPROVING TEACHER QUALITY HIGH EDUCATION GRANTS

The University of Hawaii at Manoa announces the availability of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for grants under the No Child Left Behind: Improving Teacher Quality Higher Education Grants Program (formerly the Eisenhower Professional Development Program). The grants may begin on September 1, 2006 and continue through August 31, 2007. they are awarded on a competitive basis to partnerships comprised at a minimum of (1) a private or State institution of higher education and its division that prepares teachers and principals; (2) a school of arts and sciences within higher education; and (3) a high-need local educational complex. Grants will be awarded for professional development activities in core academic subject areas, computer-related technology, or to ensure that teachers can use state academic and student achievement standards and assessments to improve instructional practices and student achievement.
