HAWAI’I COUNTY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Pursuant to the requirements of Chapter 243, Section 243-5, of the Hawai’i Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that the following public hearing will be held by the Council of the County of Hawai’i for the purpose of considering the fuel tax rates for the County of Hawai’i.

TIME: 5:00 p.m.
PLACE: Hawai’i County Building
Council Chambers
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, Hawai’i

The County Council will consider the following fuel tax rates for fiscal years July 1, 2017, to June 30, 2018; July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019; and July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2020:

Fuel Tax on Liquid Fuel Rates
(Diesel On-Highway and Gasoline On-Highway)
FISCAL YEAR RATE PER GALLON
Current Rate 8.8 cents
FY 2017-2018 19.0 cents
FY 2018-2019 21.0 cents
FY 2019-2020 23.0 cents

All persons desiring to express their views on the above matter may do so orally at the hearing and must register with the County Clerk’s staff. Those submitting written testimony at the hearing should bring 14 copies for distribution. Public testimony may also be submitted before 12 noon on the business day prior to the hearing: (1) by mail to the County Clerk’s Office, 25 Aupuni Street, Room 1401, Hilo, Hawai’i, 96720; (2) by facsimile to (808) 961-8912; or (3) by email to counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov. For testimony received via email or fax, copies will be distributed at the hearing when transmitted in a timely manner. All oral and written testimony will be made a part of the public record. The meeting places are accessible for persons with disabilities. Persons who need special accommodations for this hearing should call (808) 961-8255 by May 26, 2017. TTY users may use Relay Service 711(961-8255) to contact our office.

Kona Council Office, West Hawai’i Civic Center, 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway, Building A;
Na’alehu State Office Building, 95-5669 Mamalahoa Highway, Na’alehu;
Pahoa Council Office, 15-2879 Pahoa Village Road; and
Old Kohala Courthouse, 54-3900 Akoni Pule Highway, Kapa’au.

If, due to unanticipated circumstances, the courtesy site is unavailable and/or participation is disrupted, the scheduled public hearing will continue.
