PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of a public hearing to be held by the Department of Planning and Permitting of the City and County of Honolulu under Special Management Area Ordinance, Chapter 25, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, and under the Shoreline Setback Ordinance, Chapter 23, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu, as amended, for the following application at the date and the time specified or soon thereafter:

APPLICATION: SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA (SMA) USE PERMIT NO. 2016/SMA- 66 (MS) and SHORELINE SETBACK VARIANCE (SV) NO. 2016/SV-2 (MS)

REQUEST: SMA Use Permit and SV
PROPOSAL: Proposed improvements to the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort in the SMA, including the demolition of a five-story beachfront building; development of a new beachside lawn area, stage, pool, recreation deck, meeting space, and hotel units connecting the existing Pacific and Ocean Towers; and improvement to the arrival and lobby areas and retail. A portion of the proposed development also encroach into the shoreline setback area, including a new beachside lawn area, stage, and a portion of the swimming pool and recreation deck; the five-story beachfront building to be demolished; and the existing basement, stairway and landing, and drainage system, which will be renovated.

Maps showing the general location and boundaries of the area under consideration are on file at the Department of Planning and Permitting, Permit and Zoning Records Access, First Floor, Frank F. Fasi Municipal Building, 650 South King Street, and are available to the public for inspection during office hours, 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. All interested persons are invited to attend. Those persons desiring to testify may register prior to the public hearing at the public hearing site and are encouraged to submit one copy of their testimony in writing.
Attendance at the public hearing is not necessary to submit testimony. Written testimony may be faxed (768-6743) or mailed (650 South King Street, 7th Floor, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813) to the department prior to the hearing and will be considered in the evaluation of the request.
