NOTICE

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Plant Protection and Quarantine is advising the public that an environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact have been prepared relative to the release of a non-indigenous parasitoid, Fopius ceratitivorus (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) for the biological control of Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Tephritidiae) in Kaua’i and then other islands within Hawai’i. Based on its finding of no significant impact, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service has determined that an environmental impact statement need not be prepared. The environmental assessment and finding of no significant impact may be viewed on the internet at https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/plant-pest-and-disease-programs/SA_Environmental_Assessments or by writing a request to USDA APHIS PPQ Pests, Pathogens, and Biocontrol Permitting, 4700 River Rd., Unit 133, Riverdale, MD 20737.
