Notice is hereby given that the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Highways Division proposes a highway rehabilitation project. The location of the project is the Kamehameha Highway (Route 83) along the North Shore with project limits from the Vicinity of Kapuhi Street to Dairy Road. This proposed project is a federal funded HDOT project. It will be considered a federal action and undertaking, as defined by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended (2006). The proposed undertaking involves cold-planing, reconstructing weakened pavement areas, resurfacing, adjusting utility manholes, upgrading existing and installing new guardrails, installing pavement markers, shoulder rumble strips, traffic signs, and traffic counting stations, upgrading bridge rails and endposts, repairing a damaged box culvert, and constructing drainage improvements. The Area of Potential Effect for the project is approximately 23 acres and is within the limits of highway right-of-way.
