SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT SECTION (SES)
(TEMPORARY, EXEMPT FROM CIVIL SERVICE)
Salary Range: $38,000 – $43,000 (Commensurate with Experience)

SES CIVIL INVESTIGATOR:
Duties: Investigates (as a priority) cash-based businesses to detect violations of State of Hawaii tax laws, rules, and regs. May perform undercover and surveillance activities.
Education: College degree or equivalent. 15 credits in accounting is desirable.
Desirable Specialized Experience:
Entry level: One (1) year of general investigative and/or financial accounting experience.
Journey level: Two (2) years investigative experience preferably utilizing a variety of investigative methods and techniques such as interrogation and surveillance with demonstrated knowledge of rules of evidence, search and seizure laws. Financial accounting experience is desirable.
Substitution for Specialized Experience:
Possession of a law degree from a recognized law school maybe substituted for two (2) years of specialized experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work flexible days and hours, and travel within and out of state.
