NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

APPLICATION OF HAWAIIAN ELECTRIC COMPANY, INC.
FOR APPROVAL TO CONSTRUCT AN OVERHEAD SUBTRANSMISSION LINE

Docket No. 2014-0146

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“HECO”), filed on June 20, 2014, for Commission approval to extend an overhead 46 kilovolt (“kV”) subtransmission line (the “Project”) into Waihonu Place and adjacent property located in the Mililani area of Oahu. The public hearing will be held as follows:

*Note: The public hearing will coincide with the public hearing for In re Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc. (“HECO”), Docket No. 2014-0113, involving HECO’s application, filed on May 16, 2014, seeking the Commission’s approval to commit certain funds for the purchase and installation of Item P0001576, Schofield Generating Station Project.

The Project was initiated at the request of Waihonu South LLC in order to accommodate the development and installation of a Tier 3 Feed-In Tariff 1.5 megawatt solar farm on real property owned by Religious Corporation Honbushin and situated in Mililani on the island of Oahu. The existing 46kV overhead line will be extended into Waioni Place and into an adjacent property, which is also owned by Religious Corporation Honbushin, where it would connect to a substation for the solar farm. The overhead extension work consists of the installation of: (1) five 65-foot wood poles; (2) one anchor; (3) two switches; and (4) approximately 700 circuit feet of 336.4 KCM AAAC 46kV overhead conductors. The total estimated cost of the Project is approximately $148,900. Copies of HECO’s Application are available for public review through the Commission’s electronic Document Management System, accessible at http://dms.puc.hawaii.gov/dms/. In addition, copies of HECO’s Application are also available for review by contacting HECO [(808) 548-7311], the Commission’s Honolulu Office [(808) 586-2020], or the Division of Consumer Advocacy [(808) 586-2800].

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HECO’s Application. Statements may also be mailed to the Public Utilities Commission, 465 South King Street, Room No. 103, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, or e-mailed to Hawaii.PUC@hawali.gov. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2014-0146.
