NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

APPLICATION OF HAWAII ELECTRIC LIGHT COMPANY, INC.
FOR APPROVAL TO RELOCATE AN OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINE

Docket No. 2014-0327

The STATE OF HAWAII PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION (“Commission”), pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §§ 269-27.5 and 269-27.6(a), HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that it will hold a public hearing relating to the Application of Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc. (“HELCO”), filed on October 29, 2014, for Commission approval to relocate a section of an overhead 69 kilovolt (“kV”) transmission line (the “Project”) located along Kea’au-Pahoa Highway near Hawaiian Paradise Park and Orchidland Estates Subdivisions between Kea’au and Pahoa for Item H0003001. The public hearing will be held as follows:

The Project is being done at the request of the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and involves the installation of: (1) two new 80-foot wood poles (P-53 and P-54), (2) two 75-foot wood poles (P-55 and P-56), (3) two anchors and (4) approximately 1,048 circuit feet of 556.5 MCM AAC 69 kV overhead conductors and #3/0 AAAC shield wire for the 69 kV transmission pole line relocation. In addition, the project installs (I) one new 55-foot pole (P-1), (2) one new 35-foot guy pole (P-56G), (3) two anchors, and (4) approximately 1,048 circuit feet of #336.4 MCM 34 kV subtransmission overhead conductors. Existing conductors servicing existing residences will be transferred along the transmission pole line. Further, the following existing transmission facilities will be removed: (1) four 75-foot poles, (2) one anchor, and (3) approximately 1,048 circuit feet of #556.5 MCM AAC with 3/8″ EHS shield wire overhead conductors. The total estimated cost of the Project is approximately $261,961, to be partly covered by the DOT.

All interested persons are invited to attend the public hearing to state their views on HELCO’s Application. Statements may also be mailed to the Public Utilities Commission, 465 South King Street, Room No. 103, Honolulu, Hawaii, 96813, or e-mailed to Hawaii.PUC@hawali.gov. All written statements should reference Docket No. 2014-0327.
