NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
ON THE CHANGES TO CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE TRAFFIC CODE
INTENDED TO IMPLEMENT STATE LAWS
RELATING TO PARKING FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND CONFORMING AMENDMENTS

The Department of Transportation Services (DTS) will receive written comments and hold a public hearing at the Mission Memorial Conference Room, Mission Memorial Building, 550 S. King Street, 1st Floor, at 9:00 a.m., October 29, 2014, for the purpose of public comment and discussion on proposed changes to implement state laws relating to parking for persons with disabilities and conforming amendments to Chapter 15, Traffic Code, Revised Ordinances of Honolulu.

Persons who wish to testify and comment may either testify in person at this public hearing or submit written comments to the Director of the Department of Transportation Services at least three (3) working days prior to the date and time of the hearing.

Ordinance 14-25 was implemented on July 23, 2014, pursuant to the repeal of certain sections of Chapter 15 of the city traffic code intended to implement state laws relating to parking for persons with disabilities, and to make conforming amendments, as needed.

Section 15-24.10, ROH, repealed certain parking fee waivers in “any publicly owned parking space in an unmetered lot, or in a publicly owned metered parking lot” under the City jurisdiction, fee waivers which were provided in City lots, but this waiver was not provided in State-owned public parking lots.

The City seeks public input from those persons with disabilities on the changes in parking policies and privileges effected by Ordinance 14-25.
Copies of the ordinance is available for use and examination by the public during regular business hours at the Department of Transportation Services, 650 S. King Street, 3rd Floor, Honolulu Municipal Building and are also available on-line at http://www4.honolulu.gov/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-151446/ORD14-25.PDF. A copy of the Ordinance can be sent to any person who submits an email request to rgee@honolulu.gov for no charge.
