SPECIAL ENFORCEMENT SECTION (SES)
INVESTIGATORS (CIVIL)
(TEMPORARY, EXEMPT FROM CIVIL SERVICE)
Salary Range: $38,000 – $43,000 (Commensurate with Experience)

SES CIVIL INVESTIGATOR:
Duties: Investigates (as a priority) cash-based businesses to detect violations of State of Hawaii tax laws, rules, and regs. May perform undercover and surveillance activities.
Education: College degree or equivalent. 15 credits in accounting is desirable.
Desirable Specialized Experience:
Entry level: One (1) year of general investigative and/or financial accounting experience.
Journey level: Two (2) years investigative experience preferably utilizing a variety of investigative methods and techniques such as interrogation and surveillance with demonstrated knowledge of rules of evidence, search and seizure laws. Financial accounting experience desirable.
Substitution for Specialized Experience:
Possession of a law degree from a recognized law school may be substituted for two (2) years of specialized experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work flexible days and hours, and travel within and out of state.
