TOURISM RESEARCH MANAGER
The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) is the state’s lead agency for Hawaii’s visitor industry and is responsible for developing and implementing the state’s marketing plan and efforts and coordinating tourism-related research, planning, promotional, and outreach activities. The HTA is seeking a Tourism Research Manager who will serve as the research lead and has the responsibility of planning, organizing, and conducting research on domestic and international visitor characteristics, satisfaction and expenditures for tourism in the state of Hawaii. This position analyzes trends and impacts of the tourism industry on the economy and is involved in dissemination of tourism data. This is a full-time position, which is exempt from state civil service requirements and security, but all regular state benefits apply.
This position requires effective oral and written communication skills; the ability to recognize and analyze issues that affect the public and tourism industry; the ability to maintain a multi-task workload; and the ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment, while adapting to rapidly changing requirements. Graduation from a four (4)-year accredited college or university with major study in business administration, research, statistics, economics, or other social sciences; seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in travel industry management, business administration, economics, public planning, or a related field; five (5) years of professional work experience in research, planning, or statistical analysis; and experience in planning and directing the work of others. Salary commensurate with experience.
